Kozachok

During harvest, young girls are gathering wheat in the fields.
Arkan
This dance comes from the Hutzul region in the Carpathian Mountains of the western Ukraine. This dance is only done by males. In the old days it was done around a large bon fire.
Hutzulka
This dance comes from the Hutzulschyna, a region in the picturesque Carpathian Mountains of western Ukraine. As you can see the costume is different. The steps are faster paced and are known for their circular patterns and extreme energy. Steps are generally done in a tight up and down motion rather than wide side-to-side motion.
Flirtation Dance
The boy, in an effort to impress and win his girl, goes into his repertoire of steps. The performance of the girl consists of more delicate steps.
Hopak
The Hopak needs no explanation. It is the best known of the world's folk dances and certainly the most beloved not only in Ukraine but also throughout the world. The acrobatic solos of the male dancers are beautifully contrasted with the spins and grace of the females. Each leap spin performed by the male is designed to win the females favor.
